Guest blog: using Button-fix to hang acrylic signage

January 24, 2025

Katie Stockton from Kreativ Design tells the story of her innovative signage business and why she chose Button-fix as a reliable, invisible wall mounting.

Kreativ Design Ltd is a small laser-cutting signage and design company based in Leicestershire. It was founded in August 2016 by owner and director Katie Stockton. Having spent many years teaching design and technology, a gap in the market presented itself to Katie which proved too good to not pursue. Kreativ Design focus on large house signs and small business signage, all laser-cut, high quality designs which are backed up with a bespoke design service alongside 5-star customer service. Below is Katie’s guest blog post - called ‘Kreativ Design - my Button-fix story.’

"I love designing and making things, anything. When searching for my own house sign, I found nothing that stood out, not for design, colour, or size. There was a real gap in the market, so I decided to embark on my very own venture after making my own house sign in 2015. A friend loved it, wanted one too and it all went from there.

Visible fiings detract from the sign design

"The first ‘twenty-two’ sign (above left) was small enough to get a cut out ‘keyhole’ style fixing on the back, but I soon wanted a bigger, more visible sign. Big products, oversized I would say, are my speciality. If you are sure about a product's design, make it stand out, show it off. Originally, visible bolts were needed and had to be used on the bigger-sized signs (above right). However, an invisible method was really needed to help make the designs ‘pop.’

"My first commission in 2016 was 26a CEDAR HOUSE, 40 x 20 cm signs with a matt black with a mirror effect contrast. The sleek modern design demanded no visible fixings to complement the contemporary layout. I came across Button-fix when researching concealed fixings. The Type 1 Bonded Button-fix was perfect for use on my bigger-sized signs when the customer wanted a concealed fixing. Up until that point I was having to make my own keyhole fixings, glued together, which were fiddly and time-consuming. Button-fix are so simple to use, they allow me to make bigger, three-dimensional signage for homes and businesses and I have absolute faith that the fixings will not fail. Using these fixings within these large panel signs is straightforward. They can either be purchased with the self-adhesive Fix-pads to apply directly to the fixing and the back of the sign, or inset into a two-layer sign using a bespoke cut out on the sign back. Using VHB tape means they stay put in all weathers, for years and years. Customers have often remarked on how easy the signs are to install when using these fixings.

Sign panels using Button-fix hidden fixings

"Standard sizes on my website go up to 80cm wide, they can be fully adjusted, and I welcome bespoke enquiries which offer total design customisation and even bigger sign sizes, font, colours and bespoke colours to suit each individual home or business. Using the Button-fix panel fixings on the back of the signs ensures the sign front can be the sole focus in getting your home or business noticed. Having no visible fixings also adds an element of class, style and professionalism to the presentation of the signs. I now offer Button-fix as a recommended option for all my sign installations."
