Phil Hall, Button-fix's Technical Manager, shows how he used Type 2 fasteners while installing an Ikea kitchen.
Video commentary:
Hi, I'm Phil Hall, Technical Manager at Button-fix. Sometimes Button-fix are really handy for kitchen installations. Here's an issue I came across recently.
The IKEA 'Metod' kitchen range has a low plinth. For many integrated dishwashers, the standard IKEA door is too long and clashes as it opens. However, one simple and reliable option is to split the door and attach the trimmed section to the adjacent carcasses.
I use Type 2 Button-fix to attach the lower door section between the two adjacent carcasses. I just eyeballed it here, but you can use packers or spacers to ensure accuracy. Then give it a good wallop. The stainless steel points mark clearly onto the back of the panel, giving the exact screw fixing positions for the Fixes.
Pilot drill and attach the Fixes. Then simply push the panel home. It's easily removable for ease of servicing or access beneath.
